I find that people often enjoy working with others that they know on a fairly personal basis, and to that end, I would like to introduce myself. I am Walter Jones. I'm a twenty-six year old working professional who found a love for performance at the end of high school, and joined my college's theatre program to learn set building and technical tricks to the trade. I studied at three different colleges, Gordon College (now Gordon State College) of Barnesville, GA; Georgia SouthWestern State University, of Americus, GA; and Georgia Southern University, of Statesboro, GA. While at GSW, I was thrown into the position of sound designer/board operator a week before the show started, and fell in love. I logged over two hundred hours in the scene shop that semester (209.5 hours, exactly), learning everything I could about set design, sound, and lighting between GSW's campus and the beautiful Rylander Theatre in downtown Americus.
I transferred to Gordon College, where I earned my Associate of Arts in Psychology. I enjoyed Psychology as an academic interest, but needed a job that I could work on with my hands. I continued at Gordon as a sound designer, stagehand, theatrical fly operator, and scene shop assistant. After graduating, I moved to Statesboro, where I worked on my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology. I was involved in the theatre program at Georgia Southern University (#TrueBlue), and found a student position with the Russell Union Facilities and Event Services department as a student audio/visual assistant technician.
As I finished my courses at Georgia Southern University, I found a way to work professionally doing a job that I enjoyed in Atlanta, GA working for several vendors. I continue my professional relationship with them as I continue to find other clients who need a Loyal A/V Professional who is devoted to customer service, because I believe that, while anyone can do the job, it takes a strong commitment to customer relations in order to bring to life the vision of the client. I do my best to work hard to please my clients, but I also like to keep a good attitude at work, usually with a cheesy joke. For instance, have you heard the joke about the sound engineer? I couldn't hear it either.
